What is Microsoft Copilot Cowork?
Cowork is the agentic side of Microsoft 365 Copilot. Rather than answering a single prompt, it takes on multi-step work you delegate to it: gathering sources, drafting, iterating, and producing a finished output. It behaves less like a chat window and more like a digital coworker, which is why the skill people need is delegation rather than prompting.
When should teams use Copilot Chat instead of Cowork?
Copilot Chat is the default for quick questions, summaries, rewrites, and anything that resolves in a single exchange. Cowork earns its tokens on multi-step work with several sources and a real deliverable at the end, such as a budget pack, a business plan, or a variance analysis. The workshop gives participants an explicit decision rule so the expensive option is only used where it pays back.
How long is the Cowork Skill-a-Thon?
Four hours in one immersive session, delivered virtually or on-site, with four modules: delegation masterclass, walkthrough and skill creation, a team hack, and the reveal with recognition.
Who should attend?
Cohorts of up to 25 existing Cowork licence holders, ideally people who already do the recurring work you want to standardise. It runs well as open enrollment, repeated as you scale across the organisation.
Is the workshop virtual or on-site?
Both formats are available. Virtual sessions use breakout rooms for the hack; on-site sessions run the same agenda in person. Content and outcomes are identical.
How does the workshop help control Cowork token consumption?
Most Cowork spend comes from trial and error. Participants learn a clear Chat-versus-Cowork rule, how to brief work properly so it succeeds on fewer attempts, and how to standardise a proven approach as a reusable skill others can run instead of starting from scratch.
